The whole year's work depends on a good start in spring. Spring is the season when everything grows and it is also a good time for disease prevention. In order to build up citizens' health and improve people's ability to prevent all diseases and hurt, our center held a propaganda in the community health service stop at the seventh village of North Xinjing at 1st April to provide health consulting service for citizens in that community, especially the old.
According to the large number of the old in the community and combined with focal points of disease prevention in spring, the content of the propaganda was rich, including hurt prevention, environmental health, nutrient hygiene and food sanitation and on. The form was varied and except providing one -to- one consulting to answer their questions patiently and providing practical knowledge about prevention and health care, they also gave propaganda and education materials and provided test of balance ability for the old and layout show.
The atmosphere was quite warm and citizens show much interest in the propaganda and they consulted about the knowledge about disease prevention and preventing skills over each other from the professionals. After they got satisfied answers, they got propaganda materials about preventing foodborn diseases and reasonable diet and nutrition to plan to publicize them to their family members. Some old men were found easy to fall by testing balance ability. The professionals gave them moderate advices to help them enhance their awareness and ability to prevent falling. At 12 o'clock at noon, the propaganda ended and most of the old said that such a propaganda were welcome to their community and they wish there would be more.
There were over 300 citizens in the propaganda and more than 300 varied propaganda materials were given. Over 150 citizens consulted and more than 50 had the test of balance and got good results. We would improve ability to serve the community by knowing about citizens needs about the content and form of health education from communications with them.
