2008 is the year of the Olympics and in order to let old cataract patients see the world again and welcome the Olympics with smiles, the activity "Consolidate Barrier-Free Zone of Cataract" in the district started formally with highly emphasis from the government of the district. The rally or work meeting of "consolidate the barrier-free zone of cataract" in 2008 was held by Changning public health center at April 18 to carry out the selection work of cataract patients. Vice director of Disease Prevention and Control Center of the district Hong Chunrong chaired the meeting and more than 50 members including official of Health Bureau of the district, officials of eye disease prevention section of all streets and charges of eye sections of operation hospitals, doctors of eye disease prevention of community health service center and staff of disease prevention and control center.

The meeting was to carry out the two-day selection of cataract patients in communities from April 26 to April 27. Firstly, chief of eye and teeth prevention section of Disease Prevention and Control Center introduced the work plan of the selection including six parts like time, place, procedure, responsibilities of members of integrated team, program introduction and progress. He requested that each street should carry out selection place, community health service centers should have overall community propaganda and every hospital shoud get medical staff and mechines ready for the selection. Then they exchanged with each other mutually, listened opinions and advices from all departments participating, communicated with each other and made clear everyone's responsibilities and integrated team consisting of Disease Prevention and Control Center of the district, streets, hospitals and community health service center would implement the two-day selection of cataract.

In the end, they divided into small teams to have group discussion accoding to different selection places. Each group had a detailed discussion about the arrangement of the meeting, implementing of examination tools and machines, operation procedure and training lectures. The smooth end of the meeting was a solid basis for the selection of cataract patients in communities.
