How to prevent children from the adverse effects of unhealthy indoor air pollutants? There’re some advice proposed by experts of indoor environment monitoring center:

1.The quality of decoration materials should be strictly controlled. Those materials containing hazardous substances, such as artificial board with high-concentration of formaldehyde, paint full of benzene or lead and so on should not be used in indoor decoration. According to corresponding national standards, never buy those materials above the standards.

2.Pay more attention to the decoration design of child room. To avoid indoor air pollution, you should not use too much wood-based panels and paint for visual effects.

3.Detect and mitigate indoor air pollutants in child room after decoration. According to the requirements of state issued Code for indoor environmental pollution control of civil building engineering, the fresh built or fresh decorated building must pass the test of indoor air quality offered by indoor environment detecting departments before it can be used.

4.Strengthen the ventilation in child room. It has been estimated that, a child needs approximate 15 cubic meters fresh air per hour. It easy to be polluted because child room is comparatively small in most families and there are many children gathered together in schoolrooms in kindergartens and primary schools. Provided that each child takes up 5 cubic meters in space, three times of ventilation is needed an hour.

5.Cut time spent on indoor activities in polluted room. It will not only reduce the harm to children caused by indoor air pollutants, but also do help to strengthen their immune systems, if you let them have more activities outdoors when the quality of the ambient air is good.
